Skala Panagia - Golden Beach

Golden Beach is also known now by the locals as Skala Panagia, as it is developing into a beautiful beach side community. It is, as the name quite literally suggests, a beautiful stretch of golden sand. It is the northern end of a two kilometres stretch of beach, which shelves gently into the sea. The beach has been awarded a blue flag for the cleanliness both of the beach, the environment and the water. This beach is renowned throughout Greece as being one of the most beautiful in the whole of the Mediterranean. The village nestles into the bay, backed by the steep grey granite slopes of the mountainside and at both ends of one's view; the green trees seemed to tumble into the water.
