Thassos town, also known as Limenas, or quite simply, the port, is both the administrative and the commercial centre of the island.

It has an all year-round population, so that you can while away the hours, watching the fishermen landing their catches, mending their nets, repairing their boats as well as all the other facilities that the residents of the island require.

It offers water taxi services to local beaches, further down the coast, and as a town, provides a wide range of entertainment for all ages, and all requirements.

Here you will find the local museum, numerous antiquities - beautifully excavated and explained, and access to the ancient theatre and Acropolis.

It is located in a sheltered bay, with the densely wooded green hills of the island all round, offering walks in and around its winding streets or further out into the mountains or around the coast to the other bays.
