Skala Rachoni is a small and very slowly emerging beach community.
It has a spectacular Greek Orthodox Church, a number of smaller
hotels nestled among the olive groves, which border the coastline,
numerous family run restaurants serving daily, fresh fish and
local meat and vegetable dishes, as well as a number of rather
trendy cafe bars and snack bars, which will amaze you with their
eclectic musical choices in the background, as well as offering
you a relaxing environment in which to enjoy the coffee or soft
drink, while gazing out to sea at the outline of the mainland,
6 miles distant.
It offers a large supermarket with a very extensive range of
groceries and household goods, petrol station, regular bus service,
tennis, beach and water sports, as well as the opportunity to
stroll in and amongst the silver grey-green of the olive groves,
which
are abundant because of the mild climate in this part of the
island.
It is a resort which will be appeal to those who want a quiet
and relaxed holiday, with access to beaches on the doorstep. All
the beaches are soft sand and provide beds and umbrellas for people
to laze, read, play cards, write their memoirs or just gaze out
to sea, relaxed in the knowledge that they only have to think
about wearing beach clothes with perhaps a cover up for the evenings,
and then contemplating the trip to town, possibly once a week
to catch up with the reality of the daily life in a small Greek
town.
